Bourbon Glazed Salmon

We love this quick and easy recipe. The smoky-sweet bourbon glaze really complements the sweet flavor of the salmon.

Recipe

Ingredients (serves 2-4):

4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
2  – 4 salmon steaks, with the skins on
1/3 cup bourbon whiskey

Directions:

  • In a small frying pan, over medium heat, melt the butter.  Stir in the brown sugar.
  • Place the salmon steaks on top of the butter/sugar mixture, meat side down.  Cook for  5 minutes.
  • Turn the salmon skin side down.  Remove the pan from the heat (to reduce the splatter) and add the bourbon around the salmon.
  • Return to heat and continue cooking for 5 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork, while spooning the glaze over the salmon.
  • Serve immediately.

    Hi Debbie and Jon.
This recipe looks so good… and the whole site is amazing. Congratulations. I may have to tweak a recipe here or there!

Wow! Made this last night! Have many salmon recipes, this is my new favorite! Was truly “moan-worthy”! Can’t wait to fix this for dinner guests!

Hi Diane — thanks so much for the comment. We’re glad you enjoyed the recipe! It’s one of my favorites as well. Debbie does the majority of the cooking around here, but when it’s my turn to “man” the kitchen this recipe is one my my go-to’s. Always so happy to hear when our recipes work out for others!

Almost ruined a nice salmon filet with this recipe. Butter didn’t seem to mix and incorporate with the sugar. Bourbon came through way too strong. Maybe I didn’t cook it out long enough or pan not hot enough. I don’t know. Followed the recipe, no bueno for me.

Hi Eric — So sorry to hear that it didn’t work out for you. It’s a well-tested recipe for us; we use a gas range and cast-aluminum pans which gives it a nice sear and definitely burns off a lot of the Bourbon. Really appreciate the feedback.

Hi. This will be the 3rd time I have made this, since I am a “non-cook” I followed the recipe to the letter. Let’s just say I’m batting a thousand. Simple, delicious, and quick.
    Thank you
